Logistics

Much has changed since I began working for OSIS back in 1998. What used to be a kind of family-like environment in a small, later mid-sized company, has now become a supply unit for a global corporation. This transformation has resulted in many changes in all areas of the company. Especially in the logistics department, we have had to develop new procedures and processes to keep pace with each stage of growth.

Along with the increasing internationalization / globalization, new requirements in many areas have been added: eg, regarding customs requirements and payment transactions as well as quality specifications. But it's not just the timely shipping of our software and hardware to our customers that we are responsible for in our area. We also take care of procurement and stock keeping. We also ensure that our booths at the trade fairs we attend – whether in Dortmund, Hawaii or Sapporo – that all the equipment needed arrives on time. Oftentimes, things get pretty hectic here, especially when it's the end of the fiscal six-monthly period or fiscal year. Or when there's pre- and post-processing to do regarding inventory in addition to day-to-day routine tasks. And especially in those times, it's great to have such camaraderie /friendship within our department, as well as throughout the entire company.
